'' BANANAS...'' A very interesting FACTS....

'' BANANAS...''
A very interesting FACTS

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!...
This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

DEPRESSION:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

ANEMIA:
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

BLOOD PRESSURE:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

BRAIN POWER:
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

CONSTIPATION:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

HANGOVERS:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

HEARTBURN:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

MORNING SICKNESS:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

MOSQUITO BITES:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

NERVES:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system..

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

ULCERS:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL:
Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has FOUR TIMES the protein, TWICE the carbohydrate, THREE TIMES the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A BANANA a day keeps the doctor away!'

PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS...
PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit !!!

How To Make Healthy Drinks For Your Family

  • Start with a good juicer. If you're not familiar with the different kinds of juicers, look into the several types that are available. Avoid centrifugal juicers, which can work well for simple juices but which generally produce a poorer-quality product than masticating and twin-gear juicers. But don't feel bad if you can't afford one of the more expensive types. For now, what's important is for your juicer to be powerful, simple to use, and easy to clean.

  • Experiment with flavors. Strictly speaking, juices don't need to taste great. They just need to be healthy. But if you want to actually enjoy juicing, try to create concoctions that provide a nice balance of flavor and nutrition. For instance, many people sweeten their green juices with an orange or another tasty fruit. The important thing is to give yourself variety so that your body gets the full range of nutrients.

  • Choose fresh and organic produce: Non-organic, non-local produce can work in a pinch, but if you want the maximum possible nutrition and the best flavor, choose produce that is certified organic and comes from your region-which usually means choosing items that are in season. This might limit your options, but it will make your juicing more rewarding.

  • Prepare the produce: Your juicing will be a lot easier-and the finished product will be more nutritious-if you properly prepare your fruits and vegetables before feeding them into the juicer. Remove all peels (but thin skins can stay) and chop the produce into bite-size portions. Then, feed it into the juicer at a steady pace.

  • Consume the juice as soon as possible: Remember, your homemade juice does not have the preservatives that keep mass-produced juices fresh as they're shipped around the world. So while fresh juice can be kept for a day or so, it steadily loses its nutritional content and becomes less tasty. That's why most serious juicers get into the habit of making juice every day.
  • Quick and Easy 3-Step Process to Creating a Simple, Healthy Meal

Select your protein, starch, fruit or vegetable, herbs and spices

Stocking up on a large variety of fresh vegetables and fruits will help you in this process...

    • Choose items with lots of color. Different colors make the meal more interesting and healthy
    • Buy lean cuts of meats and whole grains (brown rice or barley vs. white rice, whole wheat pasta vs. white).
    • Stock your cupboard with lots of different herbs and spices. This is the key to making your meals taste different. (And when you have different tasting foods, your palate won't get tired and you will eat less).

Once you have your theme, you can determine what foods and tastes match. For instance, if you choose the Asian theme, you could select chicken breast for your protein. Almost all the fresh vegetables in your refrigerator or frozen vegetables could be used, and rice (brown is best). You could use ginger, garlic, crushed red chili peppers, black pepper, a touch of tamari or soy sauce, honey and fruits. Mix and match to see what taste you like best. Just start with one spice and keep adding until you get the taste you and your family likes.

5 Skin Care Tips - How to Keep Oily Skin Healthy Looking

Women in ancient times were as mindful of their looks as they are today. Methods of taking care of skin may have changed, but the general state of affairs remains as it was then. Women take great pains to make sure they look beautiful, and also to stay that way as long as possible notwithstanding the march of time.
Technology and nature will unite one day to fashion a cure that will halt and even turn back the aging clock for oily skin. Until that day men and women will make do with the skin care tips and remedies available now which developed from research and hands-on age-old practice.
Common Sense Skin Care Tips, Sensational Results
    1. Use nothing but water based products on your face - oily skin makes surpluses of oil, so using creams, this will aggravate the condition, as well as cause the formation of blackheads and acne. A good skin care tip is to keep the skin free of any make-up throughout the summer months. Use only moisturizer and a blush, as needed, on your face. The natural look will be improved by a dash of natural color lipstick and kohl to outline the eyes.
    2. Moisturize your facial skin as frequently as you can - do not use soap or soap based products to wash your face. Do wash your face with plain water as often as you can, to remove dust and dirt build-up clogging the pores. Hydrating your skin keeps it healthier and happier. Remember the skin care tip, "a happy skin makes for a glowing skin; a glowing skin will stay a young skin for long".
    3. Always remove make-up at night. This skincare tip is critical. Never go to bed without removing cosmetics right, with cleansing milk. Those who do not wear make-up should still clean their face thoroughly before going to bed- this will prevent acne formation.
    4. Use an astringent immediately after cleansing and exfoliating your face so that the pores of the face close to stop dust and pollution particles from clogged precious pores.
    5. Maintain a strict facial beauty and care regime - it is important for oily skin that you follow a regular skin care routine. As a result of a more disciplined lifestyle and continuous care of the skin, you'll look better than ever before.

To make it even more desirable to health conscious consumers it is being combined with super fruits that also contain these antioxidants.

    2. Artisan Chocolates: These chocolates are true works of art. Homemade treasures. They are not the chocolate that is poured into a heart mold and popped out. The cocoa is selected for aroma and texture. It is quality versus quantity. The chocolates are hand decorated or filled with high quality ingredients. Some look too good to bite into.

    3. Salt in Chocolate: Sea Salt from around the world has become a specialty food. Gourmet chocolate bars, truffles, wafers are all being sprinkled with finishing salts. Salts from all around the world are being used. Pink salt looks beautiful on white chocolate. The flavor is unique that satisfies both the sweet and salty craving.

Varieties include coconut, orange, passion fruit, and guava. You can hear the ocean when you bite into them. You can hear the breezes of a tropical rainforest.

Homemade Face Scrubs You Can Do Yourself

Face beauty is a real problem with teens as well as adults. Keeping your skin clear is very important for your self-esteem. Acne is a contrition that forms when the hair follicles clog. Sebum normally drains to the surface of your pores. When it cannot longer do that, bacteria forms and it produces blackheads and whiteheads.
What can you do about this situation?
The most important thing is to keep those pores clean. That will do the most to keep your skin clear and healthy.
You can go right to the pharmacy and get what is advertised on local media outlets. Or like many others you can also use "do-it-yourself" facial masks right from your home.
Before you consider what ingredients you will want to use, you must keep in mind that every person's skin is different. Not everything works for all people. You might have oily or dry skin. Find what works best for you, and you will be satisfied with the results at the end of the day.
If you have oily skin, masks made from mud or clay based materials work best. If you skin is dry, you want products made from glycerin, honey and other oils.
Some of these recipes include egg whites and yogurt.
All you have to do is to mix the egg whites with the yogurt and apply them to your face. Leave that on for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Oatmeal and yogurt works very good as well. This mask takes about 3 minutes. You combine finely ground oatmeal, one tablespoon of live yogurt. You add a few drops of honey. Apply this mixture on the face and leave it for ten minutes. Rinse with warm water and follow with a warm washcloth.
You've heard that white sugar is not good for you. That is not true when you are using it to wash your face. It is better than salt because it is gentle on the skin. You will have to mix the sugar with warm water and apply it to the skin. You do not need to leave it on. You massage the skin and then rinse with a warm washcloth.
By using natural ingredients, you can find in your kitchen, you can make facial masks done with your hand that do every bit as well as most products you can find at the pharmacy. They are gentle, they work, and they are natural. They contain no harsh chemicals and most skin types can use them whether oily or dry. The most important consideration is that you will be satisfied with the results.

    Benefits of Fruit Facials

Many of us are not aware that our skin is an organ. In fact our skin is the largest organ of our body, comprised entirely of cells that respire in order to stay healthy, which is why we start noticing blemishes, dry skin and paleness when we do not take sufficient care of our skin.
Fruits are nature's gift to mankind. They all have marvelous properties attributed to different types of fruit which are healthy when you consume them as food. However science today has discovered wisdom in the ways of the olden times, when fruit was used cosmetically to treat skin and to create cosmetics, as a completely organic method of skin-care which many salons of today swear by.
Different Fruits for Different Types of Facials:
    Peaches
Peaches contain the coveted alpha hydroxyl acid which is increasingly beneficial for skin cellular regeneration, which is why peaches are a common ingredient used for facials for general skin revitalization and renewal.
Peaches help in the reduction of wrinkles and lines on your skin, exfoliate dead skin gently away from the surface and cleanse your pores from dirt and oil. Many salons use peaches combined with other natural ingredients such as yogurt and oats to create masks and scrubs which are known to soothe inflamed skin.
    Strawberries
Strawberries are actually a member of the rose family, a flower famed for its healing properties when it comes to skin rejuvenation. Strawberries contain Salicyclic acid, which helps cleanse the skin and exfoliate dead cells, so that your skin's absorption capacity for moisture increases and it is able to do so more efficiently.
Strawberries also serve as mild bleach and can help reduced blemishes and freckles without necessitating the use of chemical bleach, which wreaks havoc onto your skin in the long run, making it dry and brittle.
    Cucumbers
Cucumbers are famed for being beneficial for the skin. Everybody knows remedies like placing a couple of cucumber slices over your eyes to reduce swelling and dark circles. This is efficient because cucumbers contain silica, which is a vital component of healthy connective tissue, which gives you a clear complexion and smooth glowing skin. Cucumbers have a high water content which hydrates your skin naturally, while being a superb toner at the same time.
Cucumbers also contain ascorbic and caffeic acid which prevent water retention in your face, which reduces bloating along with puffiness in the eyes and unsightly dark circles. Even rubbing a raw cucumber over your face provides your skin with instant rejuvenation, so when cucumbers are used as a part of a professional fruit facial, it they can work wonders for tired and fatigued skin.
    Avocados
Avocados are recommended for people who have dry skin, as avocados are natural antioxidants. The fruit is full of rich proteins and fats, which infuse moisture into your skin, filling in the fine lines and wrinkles, acting like natural collagen without using any chemical fillers.
Estheticians sometimes incorporate egg yolk into their avocado facial mixes to thoroughly hydrate and smooth dry and flaky skin, especially during summers where moisture heavy creams can make your skin look oily instead of glowing.

Here are a few makeup tips for apply colors to the eyes, using the best method:
    Color Choice
The type of colors that you choose for your eyes will be the determining factor of the whole look. Neutral colors such as soft brown, cream and beige are great for daytime and office wear while colors such as bronze, silver and gold are more daring and work well for a night time look. If you would like to put a hint of mystery, attempt a smoky look by going for colors like dark shades of brown and black.
    How To Apply Eye Makeup
First of all, you should apply a light layer of foundation above your eyelids, followed by the application of a small amount of concealer below the eyes as a means of camouflaging wrinkles and fine lines. After which, you should apply eye shadow primer, beginning from the eyelash up to the eyebrow. By doing this, you will be able to ensure that your eye makeup will stay longer. Choose three different shades of the very same color.
First use the medium color to apply from your eyelashes up to the crease. Then make use of an eyeliner, which should be a darker shade of the color you used on the eyelids to draw a line along the eyelashes. Make use of the darkest shade to go on top of the line of the eyeliner. Then prepare the section over the crease of the eye with the shade that is the lightest. For the portion that is below the eyebrow, make use of a shimmery shade of the color you are using. Finish by thoroughly blending the colors on the eyelid to prevent any unsightly lines.

Rainwater Harvesting - Benefits of Collecting Rainwater

Is rainwater harvesting beneficial or is it just a waste of time? Taking steps to conserve natural resources is essential for sustaining the environment and protecting our water source is a necessity. Without water the human race cannot survive, so anything that is done to preserve the earth's supply is beneficial.

Rainwater harvesting is a simple process that consists of catching rainfall from the roof or other surfaces and storing it for use. You can collect the rain in barrels positioned under the gutter downspouts on your roof or you can set up a more elaborate system that includes storage tanks, filters and a pump.

Every day each American uses approximately 80 to 100 gallons of water. Multiply that by 365 and the number is astounding. Water covers 75 percent of the earth but only 1 percent of that amount is usable. Most of the water on the earth is saltwater, which has too many minerals for human consumption. By substituting rainwater for some of your daily activities, you can save numerous gallons a day.

    Decreases Flooding and Runoff

Flooding and runoff due to heavy rains causes soil erosion. The harmful effects of soil erosion include contaminated waterways due to fertilizers and pesticides in the soil and a reduction of stored water in the soil, which hinders plant growth. Erosion also increases the amount of dust in the air, which acts as a pollutant and carries contagious disease organisms.

    It's Free

There's not much in life that you can get for free, but rainwater is. There is an upfront cost for a rain barrel or other collection system, however this environmentally friendly purchase will quickly pay for itself and the benefits of harvesting rainwater are priceless.

It's Time To Think About Some New Landscape Lighting Ideas

In the dead of winter, when the air is cold and crisp, and there is snow all around, you spend a lot more time indoors than out. But before you know it, spring will arrive, and then summer will be right around the corner, knocking on your door. But before those warmer days come, and you start spending more time outdoors, you might want to think about some new landscape lighting ideas to spruce up your outdoor areas at night.

Perhaps you have the prettiest shrubs and specimen trees in the neighborhood, and they look stunning during the daylight hours when the sun is shining bright. But when night falls, the lovely view of your landscape fades into the darkness. There's not much else you can do except go inside for the evening.

There are several different lighting options to choose from, including traditional 120-volt, 12-volt, solar, and LED lights. Of these, the 120v systems pose the greatest risk of injury to those who are untrained or inexperienced with line voltage electrical circuits. A licensed lighting technician or electrician should generally install these 120-voltage systems. On the other hand, low voltage 12v lights, solar, and LED lights can be easily installed by anyone with no special training or tools.

Types of fixtures include lanterns, string lights, pathlights, wall wash lights, bollard lights, bullet lights, floodlights, spotlights, motion detector lights, and well lights.

    Tips For Decorating Your Hallway

The choice of lighting will be important in a small hallway to help you achieve your aim of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If your hall furniture includes a table or perhaps a console, then why not put a table lamp on it or place a standard lamp next to it? Scented candles also work well in the hall because, in addition to their subtle light, they also give the space an inviting aroma which is one of the first things visitors to your home will notice. There are hundreds of choices available when it comes to scented candles. They are to be found in any number of colours so you will always be able to match them to your decor. Also, many luxury brands of candles are so attractive to look at that you do not even need to add a candle holder or any other embellishment. One word of caution, though, when it comes to using scented candles. If you are leaving a lit candle in the hall for any length of time you should make sure that it is in a safe place out of the reach of children or anyone who could accidentally knock it over. After all, by its very nature, people will be coming and going via the hall all the time. If this is an issue, you may be better advised to choose a reed diffuser to give your hallway a welcoming fragrance.

The hall is the first thing visitors will see when they arrive at your home, and as the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. You have to take care of every detail when decorating and, most importantly, make good use of the available space. Apart from thinking about how to go about decorating the hall, you should bear in mind certain practical points. For example, you really need to think about placing a coat stand or umbrella stand in the hall, to take guests coats and accessories as they arrive. So the ideal thing is to find compact furniture that will fit into a reasonably small space but where you can also store away bits and pieces.

The entrance hall in most homes is usually a very small area, an area which more often than not is not blessed with a great deal of natural light. All of which means that it can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to choosing how to decorate it and what kind of furniture and accessories are most appropriate for this space.

Modern Home Decor and Fashion Trends for 2012

As 2012 is upon us, it is a great time to look at designer forecasts for what are the hot colors for modern home decor in this new year. Benjamin Moore's 2012 ColorPulse event showcased an interesting trend in Preservation due to the current economic climate and a desire to connect with our past.

Another modern home décor trend, "Modern Art," includes bright, bold hues and patterns, youthful-looking furniture and watercolor patterns - all with that IKEA feel. These splashes of color will also be found in housewares and gifts, like hostess and housewarming gifts.

Pastels" will be seen in blush pink, mint green and robin's egg blue. "Graphic Prints," especially in black and white will be everywhere along with "Tangerine Tango."

Fun Kids Room Decorating Ideas Start With These Design Tips!

COLOR: Choosing bedroom colors for kids is easy. Let them pick. Expect their choices to be brighter, sharper, wilder than yours would be.

My daughter chose bright orange and yellow for her bedroom colors and it was an intuitively smart choice for a smaller north facing bedroom with minimal natural light from one small window. The warm colors brightened the space and, while they did pull the walls and ceiling in, they gave the room a secure, cozy feeling that made the space feel welcoming. Leave it to kids!

You can select three or four additional hues related to your kid's original paint selections to add interest and complexity. Use them as accent paint colors and when choosing accessories.

Don't forget to include the ceiling as another surface to bring to life with color.

CREATIVITY: Imagination is more important than knowledge, a wise man once said. So give your kids ample opportunity to create.

I like sliding doors with blackboard material and chalk so kids can draw to their hearts' content--and, then start over the next day.

Modular furniture can keep a room flexible to accommodate different activities...and, the kids can move it around to create their own layouts. Bulletin boards, mop boards, space for posters and personal artwork... it's all good.

No matter how large or how small the space, the best kid's room decorating idea that I leave with you is to make your child's room conducive to creativity. Creativity can be messy though, so consider linoleum tiles that are easily wiped down. Also washable and paintable wallpapers and sharper, saturated colors that don't easily show dirt and wear.

I hope these ideas inspire you...that they stimulate your creativity to come up with your own kid's room decorating ideas

Perfect Bedroom Design Tips For Couples

If you're thinking about remodeling your bedroom, it's a good idea to plan first - this way, you'll save yourself time and money. Using computer-aided software is the best way to plan. You can plan your room to its actual dimensions and you can see exactly how your room will look so there aren't any last-minute time-consuming rearrangements. Bedroom design software allows you to put everything in place to its actual dimensions, whether it's a built-in wardrobe or a vase on a bedside table, the accurate software will create your room so you can be confident everything is where is should be when it comes to redecorating.

    Planning

Hopefully, you'll have used interior design software to plan the fundamentals of your room - where to position your bed and how to maximise space-saving furniture efficiently - you will need to consider what you'll be using your bedroom for. There are no set rules about what you can and can't have in your room, some recommend not having a computer space or television so you can keep your bedroom as a place to wind down, but others prefer to have a laptop in their room - it's completely down to your personality. Your bedroom should be a respite, a place to go to relax and wind down after a hard day's work.

    Decoration

The colour scheme is important, remember the bedroom is your own space and also a space you spend a lot of time relaxing so the colours should reflect this. You can either opt for warm or cool colours - warm colours are reds, yellows and oranges whereas cool colours are blues, creams and pastels. Cool colours tend to be more relaxing and give the illusion of the room being bigger, which is why these are a favourite for bedrooms. That doesn't mean you can't opt for warm colours as well, these colours tend to bring everything closer so make a room look smaller - an option for spacious rooms to make them feel more cosy. Choosing the base colour for your room is an important decision - colour can act differently in different types of lighting - an age old trick to test how the colour reacts is to paint the inside of a shoebox in your chosen shade and see how the colour changes. This gives you a bird's eye view of how your room will look.

    Flooring

Your choice of flooring should be comfy enough for bare feet and should ideally cushion out any noise. You could opt for floorboards, which are practical and purchase a colourful rug to cover the majority of floor space. An accessory as simple as a rug can have a huge impact on the overall look of your bedroom, and by simply changing the colour every now and again, you can transform the way your bedroom looks. Try and remember to keep your room as clutter-free as possible by maximising storage space and making sure everything in your room has a place - and not on the floor!

    Door and Window Headers

The blank space above doorways and windows (if curtain valances are not used) can be a great spot for bookshelves or even small cabinets snuggly fit up against the ceiling. The shelves can also be continued down both sides in areas where they will not be affected by a swinging door. This can be an attractive focal point, framing a doorway or window in a den or study. In addition, low cabinets with seating on top can be located under windows, completing the framed look.

7 Easy and Inexpensive Interior Decorating Tips

We all like to have nice things in our home, right? But we don't always have the money to spend on the things we'd really like to have.

So, why not use a little imagination and get creative? It's amazing how easy it can be to make attractive items for your home, or just make it look a little nicer, without spending a fortune. To give you some ideas, here are 7 easy and inexpensive interior decorating tips which I hope you'll find interesting.

    1. You can make a great curtains from bedspreads pretty quickly as they're already hemmed. Just pleat the top, sew on your hooks and you're done! Don't forget - if you're using quite a heavy bedspread, make sure that your curtain pole is strong enough to take the weight.

    2. If you're after extra seating for your home, why not jazz up a deckchair? Firstly, make sure that the frame is solid before you begin. Then remove the original fabric (but keep it as a template for the new material), paint the frame whatever color you like and when it's dry, recover with a fabric such as velvet, suede, strong cotton or brocade for a great-looking, modern chair. (When fixing the new material, be sure to use upholstery nails).

    3. By far the quickest way to spruce up any room is with a fresh coat of paint. Think about the size of your room before you buy your paint and also, the amount of natural light it gets. If your room is small, light colors on the walls with a splash of a darker contrasting color here and there will be best whilst a large room can afford to have one, or even two walls accented in a darker color. If you have little natural light in your room, believe it or not, light colors aren't always the best to use but instead, mid-tones. (They're the colors that are right in the center of the color selector card). The reason for this is that rooms with little or no natural light need a certain depth of color to bring them to life. As quoted by Donald Kaufman, an expert in the field of color and paint, "A light color will never come to life in a dark room but a rich, deep color can make a dim, somber space feel warm and luminous - even though it receives no natural light."

    4. Lighting is another great way to change the look and feel of a room. Sometimes, just the way the light is angled from a bulb can make a huge difference. For example, if you have a lampshade that projects the light downwards into a room, change it for a shade which projects the light upwards - or vice-versa.

    5. If your living or dining room furniture is in need of a pick-me-up, or you just fancy a change, buy some removable covers to fit over it (or if you're good with a sewing machine, make them yourself! Look for videos online that you can follow for guidance). Dining room slip-covers are widely available, along with matching fabric to make a tablecloth, cushion covers, napkins or curtains if you'd like to. For your living room furniture, covers which go over the whole sofa or chair can be purchased pretty inexpensively - certainly more-so than buying a whole new suite!

    6. If you have a solid coffee table with a glass top that you're like to liven up, why not try putting some dried flowers and foliage, a collage of favourite pictures or even a piece of material that contrasts with your decor, underneath it. It's personal, it looks good and you can change it as often as you like.

    7. There's nothing like mirrors and pictures on your walls to bring a room to life. Mirrors will reflect the light and make a room look larger and pictures bring a personal touch to your home and brighten up the walls. Think about where you put them though. Don't hang a large mirror over a small piece of furniture or a small mirror over a large piece of furniture - it will look odd and out of balance. With pictures, hang them individually, evenly spaced out in rows or in a group on the wall. You could even paint an abstract design yourself and mount it between two glass frames before hanging it on your wall for a real conversation piece!

These are only 7 easy and inexpensive interior decorating tips for you to try, but once the creative juices start flowing, I'm pretty sure you'll come up with plenty more of your own.

I have varied interests including cooking, writing, working online, my dogs and creating new looks using budget methods.
